Yes, anyone can use the NHS for dental care, but not everyone will be eligible for a free consultation. Some will have to pay according to their NHS treatment band. If you are under 18, or under 19 and enrolled in full-time school, or if you are pregnant or have already given birth within the last 12 months, you will be entitled to receive free NHS dental care.

Any medically necessary care for maintaining the health of your teeth and gums is available to you. This often covers curative and restorative procedures but excludes aesthetic ones. If you choose NHS therapy, you might only be given a few options for therapies.

If you qualify for free NHS dental care, a checkup will be provided without charge. If not, you must pay the current band one treatment fee of £23.80.
