Who Is Entitled to NHS Treatment
Even if a person is already enrolled as a private patient, they can still obtain NHS care. Unless you qualify for free NHS dental care, you must pay the NHS treatment band price. Dental care on the NHS is completely free if you are:
- Under 18 or 19 and enrolled full-time in school
- Being treated in a hospital run by the NHS, with the hospital dentist performing your treatment
- Pregnant or having given birth within the previous 12 months
- Being under 20 and a dependent of someone getting low-income benefits, or receiving low-income benefits yourself

Yes, anyone can use the NHS for dental care, but not everyone will be eligible for a free consultation. Some will have to pay according to their NHS treatment band.
